River Oulujoki valley, Rokua esker and dune area and Lake Oulujärvi comprise the beautiful landscape areas of Rokua Geopark, where the geological, natural and human history form a fascinating story spanning thousands of years. The theme of the area is ice age, which has left its marks in the landscape. Examples of Rokua Geopark's highlights are Rokua National Park, Liimanninkoski rapids, Lemmenpolku nature trail, Lamminaho historical farm and Oulujärvi Hiking Area.
Rokua Geopark is located in northern Finland, in Muhos, Utajärvi and Vaala municipalities. By car you can reach even the most remote attractions of the area and make a small roadtrip. Public trains and buses from Oulu and Kajaani cities take you to Rokua Geopark area's municipality centers and during summer and autumn also to Rokua National Park. The local bus operates several times a day between Oulu city and Muhos.
